ABOUT US

MORE THAN A WRESTLING CLUB.
Huskie Wrestling Club (HWC) is a youth wrestling community built in Oak Park around three things:
FUN. COMPETITION. COMMUNITY.
We believe kids develop best when they enjoy being in the room, are challenged to compete, and feel like they belong to something bigger than themselves.
Through age-appropriate coaching, high-level instruction, mentorship, and a strong team culture, HWC helps young athletes develop as wrestlers, teammates, competitors, and people.
Whether a child is stepping onto the mat for the first time or preparing for the next level, our goal is the same: meet them where they are, challenge them appropriately, and help them keep growing.
Our Mission
Wrestling is a vehicle — not the destination.
We use wrestling to teach lessons that extend far beyond wins and losses.
The sport gives young athletes opportunities to experience challenge, success, disappointment, responsibility, teamwork, and perseverance—and learn how to respond to all of them.
Our mission is to develop wrestlers who compete with confidence and young people who understand effort, accountability, resilience, leadership, and respect.
We want athletes to leave HWC better prepared for the next level of wrestling—but also better prepared for school, relationships, responsibility, and life.
Better wrestlers. Better teammates. Developing future leaders.
What We Believe
FUN
Kids should want to come back.
Young athletes can work hard and still love what they're doing. We create an environment where wrestlers can learn, compete, build friendships, and develop a genuine connection to the sport.
COMPETITION
Challenge creates growth.
Competition teaches athletes to prepare, take risks, handle pressure, respond to adversity, and keep working when things don't go their way. Winning matters—but development is bigger than a record.
COMMUNITY
Huskies help Huskies.
Wrestlers don't develop alone. Coaches, teammates, parents, alumni, and the Oak Park community all play a role in building an environment where young athletes can thrive.
Effort First. Character Always. Results Follow.
Built In Oak Park
Built in Oak Park. Built to Last
HWC is rooted in a wrestling community with a long tradition of excellence.
The Little Huskies Wrestling Club tradition is the heart of HWC’s youth development pathway. Athletes learn strong wrestling fundamentals in an environment that balances hard work, competition, encouragement, and fun.
At this stage, development means more than learning technique. We want wrestlers to become comfortable being challenged, learn how to win and lose with character, support their teammates, develop confidence through consistent effort, and begin taking ownership of their growth.
As wrestlers progress, they are introduced to competition and given opportunities to test what they’ve learned, while coaches continue to emphasize development over short-term results.
Ultimately, HWC should feel like a place kids want to come back to — where they work hard, build friendships, take pride in representing Oak Park, and begin understanding what it means to be a Huskie.
Our goal isn't simply to assemble talented wrestlers for one season. We're building a consistent youth wrestling system in Oak Park where athletes can start young, develop over time, form lasting relationships, and continue growing within the Huskie wrestling community.
That means keeping youth development as the primary focus of all decision making. Investing in coaches. Building relationships with families. Creating consistent expectations. Connecting generations of Huskie wrestlers. And developing a program that can continue serving families for years to come.
The best wrestling communities aren't built in one season. They're built through consistency, connection, and kids who want to keep coming back.

Belonging
SOMETHING BIGGER THAN WRESTLING.
A wrestling club should feel like more than a place where kids practice.
We want athletes to know their teammates, support one another, learn from older wrestlers, become examples for younger wrestlers, and take pride in representing their community.
As athletes grow through HWC, their role changes. They begin as wrestlers being helped—and eventually become Huskies who help the next generation of wrestlers coming behind them.
THE NEXT GENERATION STARTS HERE.
We're proud of the wrestling tradition that came before us.
Now we're responsible for what comes next.
One wrestler. One teammate. One family at a time.
